Motorola supporters will perhaps be quite happy reading what is going to come next and will surely await the time to come. But Why?
Motorola recently announced that it is introducing a Google branded cell phone. Now that sounds a quite interesting. Especially now that Motorola’s Droid has really hit the market and has been awarded the Gadget of the Year 2009; Motorola sure must be contemplating to come out with equally good launches. And for this if it teams up with Google, the news won’t be a big surprise.
Motorola sometime back had declared that in 2010 it would bring out about 20 new Smartphones. It may actually do that after seeing the big success of Motorola Droid. (Read here Motorola Droid Named Gadget Of The Year, Rise Of iPhone Killers?…well, personally I do not agree with the last phrase of the title. iPhone is iPhone, It will take some totally amazing gadget to take over iPhone. May be Apple itself bring out a gadget so innovative that it really overtakes the iPhone. But oh, why would Apple do something like that.)
Also, last year 2 million Droids were sold, which clearly points out how popular Droid has become in the market. And if Motorola comes with a cell phone branded by Google, it may have a couple of advantages. Let’s see what the coming months of 2010 have for the Smartphone market. Until now it has been quite, no very, disappointing after Google Nexus not being able to live up to its hype, and iPad being a big show down.
All we can look forward to is that older players launch better cell phones/Smartphones. Motorola hit the market long time after loosing its hold on the market. And the same goes to Nokia. With E72 it’s time for Nokia to make a big comeback in the industry and earn back its lost place in the Smartphone market.
